LAW 751 - Church and State in the Modern WorldCredits, 2 sem. hrs.This course is designed to be an intensive, short-form class that focuses on modern, cutting edge issues of religious liberty in the United States and abroad. Its principal focus is on the Free Exercise and Establishment Clauses of the First Amendment, focusing on recent disputes in a number of areas: the regulation of religious practice, the funding of religious institutions, government endorsement of religious messages, and the appropriateness of religion in politics. The class also covers some cases and controversies from abroad, particularly in how they compare with issues in the United States. |
